Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore Raises Over $46,000 to Help Bring Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship and Work Readiness Education to Local Students

Eastern Shore, MD – Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore raised $46,375 in its mission to bring financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness education to local students throughout the area. Donations came from JA’s Giving Tuesday and End of Year campaigns.

“We couldn’t be happier with the amount raised to close out 2021,” said Jayme Hayes, President of Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore. “These donations will positively impact the lives of our young people. We could not have reached such an achievement without the kindness and generosity of our Shore community!”

Donations compiled during Giving Tuesday and JA’s End of the Year campaign will help sustain Junior Achievement’s traditional programming and continued growth. Pending the amount, donations could fund a hands-on experience for a student, allowing them to participate in JA Inspire, Leadership Day, Ag Day or other events, while higher donations could help fund special programs, such as converting a program to braille to allow visually impaired students to learn about financial literacy or provide a program in a different language.

Giving Tuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, to kick-off the holiday giving season. The day aims to inspire people to improve their local communities and give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

“Junior Achievement helps young people create successful futures by giving them the resources and knowledge to be successful in the world of work,” Hayes said. “In a time of uncertainty, one thing we can’t afford compromise is the education of our youth. Without the help of so many, we couldn’t continue the great work we strive to do.”
